Abdirahman Dahir Osman is a great, very competent man and Abdirahman Dahir Osman has been appointed as the Somali minister of education and higher education, the Federal Government of Somalia.  Somalia, the Horn of Africa nation is now battling an al-Shabaab insurgency after two decades of civil war.

Abdirahman Dahir Osman is an experienced educationalist from Somalia; he has dual Somali and Norwegian citizenship and he has been working in education for over 15 years and he has a master degree from the University of Oslo, Norway.

Before his appointment as Minister for Education and Higher Education, Mr. Osman was Education Capacity Expert at the UNESCO Juba, South Sudan, Senior Technical Advisor-Education at the Ministry of Education of Somalia, Somalia, Education Specialist at the UNCHR, Dadaab, Kenya, project manager education at the Norwegian Refugees Committee (NRC), Mogadishu, Somalia, Education Specialist at the UNICEF, Damascus, Syria, Konsulent,  Flyktningkontoret-Sandvika, Norway, Program Manager at the Hiiraan Information & Reseach Center HIR, Hiran, Somalia.

Abdirahman Dahir Osman’s contribution to the education in Somalia is immense.  Mr. Osman is a well-educated man, thoughtful and well-read, and he has learned a great deal about the history, politics, culture, and social issues of Somalia and the wider Horn of Africa.  He is optimistic: he always hopes for the best and does his best to ensure everyone has equal rights. He advocates for democracy, fairness, and justice in Somalia and does all he can educate his people.  I am very delighted and proud that Abdirahman Dahir Osman has been appointed as the Somali minister of education and higher education, the Federal Government of Somalia.  Congratulations to Abdirahman Dahir Osman!  I will pray for his and Somalia’s success.
